Liberty University Explains Exam Sponsorship Line by Line

Because online tuition at Liberty University is £0, the only money attached to an online degree is examination and administrative charges. Exam sponsorship exists so that those charges do not become the barrier that tuition is not.

The Bursary has published a step-by-step account. Any online student can apply for exam sponsorship. The application is short: it asks about income, dependants and circumstances, and it is assessed on need, not on nationality, programme or grades. Most online students who apply receive a sponsorship covering their eligible examination fees.

Applying for sponsorship does not delay admission. An applicant can accept an offer, begin studying, and submit the sponsorship application in parallel. A decision is normally returned within one working week. If a fee falls due before the decision, the student contacts the Bursary and the charge is held.

"We designed this so that nobody has to choose between eating and sitting an exam," the Bursary note says. "If the process itself is confusing, that is our failure, and the desk will walk you through it."

What sponsorship covers is stated plainly: formal examination fees for the programme, and certain re-submission fees where there are mitigating circumstances. What it does not automatically cover — express document services, optional printed materials — is also listed.

Daniel Okonkwo, a hospital administrator in Nairobi, applied for sponsorship after a late shift using the portal form. "It took ten minutes," he said. "The reply came before my first assignment was due."

The sponsorship form is on the student portal under fees. Applicants who want to understand the position before they apply can ask at any open webinar or email the Bursary directly.

Staff across admissions, registry, teaching and student services are told to design every process as if the default student is studying after a full day's work: recorded sessions, published rubrics, named advisers, and a library desk that does not close at the end of one country's office hours. Liberty University will not pretend a programme is light. Applicants should plan their weekly hours before accepting an offer and ask direct questions at the open webinars if a page reads as vague.
