Liberty University School of Engineering Secures NASA Research Grant for Composite Lunar Structures

Liberty University's School of Engineering has been awarded a competitive multi-year research grant from NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate to develop ultra-durable carbon-composite structural elements for lunar surface infrastructure.

Led by Dr. Jonathan Bradley, Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, the research will utilize Liberty's Advanced Materials & Testing Laboratory in Lynchburg to test material resilience against extreme temperature swings and high-radiation vacuum environments.

"Our students and faculty are thrilled to contribute to America's return to the Moon through the Artemis program," said Dr. Bradley. "This grant provides undergraduate and graduate engineering students with hands-on spaceflight hardware development experience."
